Truvía® natural sweetener Product Review

Recently I recieved Truvía® to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program.  I grew up with a diabetic brother so we always had sugar substitutes in the house and were always trying to find ways to make dessert sugar-free but still delicious.  There are a couple fantastic recipes to use with Truvía® at truvia.com/recipes.  One of the ones that stuck out to me was Classic Cheesecake with Strawberry Topping…one of my favorite desserts of all time.  

Ingredients

Crust:
1½ cup graham cracker crumbs
¼ cup butter or margarine, melted
½ tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp + 1½ tsp Truvia® natural sweetener spoonable*

* or 5 packets Truvia® natural sweetener

Filling:
1 lb (2 cups) cream cheese
8 oz (1 cup) Neufchatel cheese
4 whole eggs or egg substitute
1 Tbsp fresh lemon zest
4 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
⅛ tsp salt
⅓ Cup + 1½ tsp Truvia® natural sweetener spoonable*

* or 20 packets Truvia® natural sweetener

Topping:
2½ cups fresh strawberries, cut into quarters
1 Tbsp + 2¼ tsp Truvia® natural sweetener spoonable*

* or 6 packets Truvia® natural sweetener

Note: For best results use room temperature lemons, cream cheese and Neufchatel.

1Assemble all ingredients.
2Place graham cracker crumbs and Truvia®natural sweetener into mixing bowl; mix well.
3Pour melted butter and vanilla over crumb mixture; blend until mixture is moist.
4Press crumb mixture into 10” ungreased spring form pan, covering bottom and sides; refrigerate for 10 minutes.
5Place Truvia® natural sweetener, cream cheese, Neufchatel, and salt into mixing bowl.
6Blend at low speed for 1 minute; scrape sides of bowl and mixing paddle.
7Mixing at low speed, add one egg at a time over 5 minutes.
8Scrape sides of bowl and paddle.
9Mix at medium speed for 2 minutes while adding lemon zest and juice; scrape bowl and mixing paddle.
10Pour batter into graham cracker crust; Bake at 325°F in oven for 55-60 minutes
11  Place all topping ingredients into bowl. Toss, cover, and let stand for 30 minutes.
12Remove from oven; cool on wire rack for I hour; Cut into 12 pieces using a water dipped serrated knife and serve or refrigerate. Spoon on strawberry topping.

Calories 270; Total Fat, 21g; Saturated Fat, 13g; Trans Fat, 0g; Cholesterol, 60mg; Sodium, 200mg; Total Carbohydrate, 24g; Dietary Fiber, 1g; Sugars, 6g; Erythritol, 8g: Protein, 6g; Vitamin A, 15% DV; Vitamin C, 35% DV; Calcium, 4% DV; Iron, 8% DV.


*This cheesecake has 270 calories and 4 grams of sugar per serving as compared to regular cheesecake that has 310 calories and 20 grams of sugar per serving.

Beauty Subscription Services

Beauty subscription services have pretty much become my new obsession.  I’ve already received three Birchboxes in prior months but this month I have three coming from Birchbox, My Glam, and Beauty Army.  I’ve also received a Vox Box from Influenster which I’ve already posted about.

Birchbox is a service that has been running for just over a year or so.  For $10 a month you receive 4-5 beauty samples based on your beauty profile.  They work with popular brands like Bare Minerals, Benefit, Jouer, Kate Spade, Kiehl’s, Laura Geller, Philosophy, Smashbox, Stila, Too Faced, Zoya and also emerging brands.  You can earn points for writing reviews on the products from your box, recommending friends, and also for buying full-size products from their store.  For every 100 points you earn $10 to spend on full-size products in the store.  I’ve loved getting the bright pink box every month…it’s been like Christmas!  Link to site: http://www.birchbox.com/

Beauty Army is a service that launched on yesterday on January 1st.  There was such a hype about the launch that the site actually crashed and the company had to add more servers to account for all the traffic their site was getting.  They started with 300 kits that will be shipping out on Friday and there will also be kits shipping out later this month.  The thing that is different about Beauty Army is that you have a choice. There is no surprise about what will be in your kit which means no unwanted samples!!!  For $12 a month you can choose up to 6 items out of 9 products that are based on your profile survey.  I haven’t heard of most of the brands they work with but I am excited to try them.  Link to site: http://www.beautyarmy.com/
